LOVE your furniture....style and color! This is going to be a great room when you make this decision. I am drawn to a golden yellow....that makes no sense, but when you mentioned you were buying a yellow set of sheets, I right away thought to just use that color for the comforter, too....but not a bright sunshine yellow, which is why I thought a golden color and maybe some black and teal in it, too. Do you think you could find a pattern like that?

The cherry wood is a beautiful choice! I would suggest a color that would go with a rich reddish brown in case you want to use the brown as an accent color in the room. I created an app called Color911. ( find out more about it at Color911.com) I think it will give you a good selection of colors to choose for decorating your bedroom. You can create your own palette of colors OR take/find a photo of something that inspires you and pull the colors from it. That would help you if you have a bedspread that you want to use.. or check out the color themes. Within the app are many pre-made color themes that are colors that all work beautifully together. You can choose any number of colors within a theme and use the colors for everything from wall color to accent colors.. you name it. I have been an award winning color consultant and have authored two best selling books on color. I created the color themes myself. I found a theme that I think would be helpful for you to choose a color for your walls.. and perhaps accent colors for your room. There are many more that would also work, I hope this one inspires you!

Red comforter is beautiful against my dark cherry furniture

I think that you can use any color you want with your cherry wood bed. Since you indicate a desire to change colors now and then, I would select a white or cream quilt for the bed. With it you'll be able to add euro shams in teal or yellow to complement your sheets. Then if you buy a throw in teal or yellow or a combination of the two, you can add it to the foot of the bed.
