Contemporary Home Curb Appeal Suggestions

last modified: 6 years ago

A great new contemporary family home in a lake community hoping for some quick curb appeal love to shine for summer season. Vinyl siding is staying (for the foreseeable future) and landscaping will improve now that snow melted. Our to do list thus far includes a power washing, replacing storm door, painting front door a brighter color and new exterior lights. Colors, comments and suggestions welcome! Thank You!

wide trim around the windows would open the house up more- I like the teal door posted above paint the downspouts to match the siding

due to the snow in the pic its hard to see the walkway - more difficult to understand the entry path- where is the walk from the driveway to the front door ?

the side deck is way way too small - needs to be double the size at least

Are the first two pictures of the front of the house? The structure there looks deck-like (meant for the rear of the house) rather than front-porch-like. The wood railings have a barrier feel.

In any case, it appears to be way too small. Both in width and depth.

I’d like to see it with no snow (bet you would too! Haha) so we can see the yard, the sidewalk, and how a visitor driving up to the house would see the whole picture.

I feel like your front door doesn't match the style of your house. I think changing it out would make a big difference. Same with garage door windows.

What color is the roof? I'd be tempted to change the brown trim to black to add more contrast. Then...

change out the front door to something more modern

Change the rail system on your deck - enlarge the deck if possible

    Change the outside lights

And change out the garage doors

Thank you all!! Great feedback and very helpful! Will post pictures without snow. The front walk is asphalt and there is a parking spot there. The house sits on a corner lot and we assume most guests will park in driveway behind house.
I had noticed the front deck rails and thought they didn’t fit. I had actually thought of taking them down-and expanding the deck around the side of the house because it is too narrow to be functional. We don’t know if a local variance will prohibit us from making it deeper. I thought if we took the railings down, the space might be more open and we could add planters etc. I agree it is more of a barrier as is.
Changing out garage doors, front door and expanding side deck and patio are all on the to do list for Fall!
Love the teal door and lighting suggestion!
Keep the ideas coming. Thank you!
