I'd really like to get this cat

He just looks like the coolest cat ever and he would look great with my other two siamese mix cats - kind of like Ida's cats all look alike. But alas I know I'm at my limit - three. If I wasn't I think I'd be on the road to pick up this boy.

    Oh he's beautiful!

Ohhhhh, yes. He just LOOKS like a little "sir", doesn't he? Beautiful boy. Are you absolutely certain 3's your limit? Maybe fate drew you to his profile. Maybe he's meant to be yours and you're meant to be his.

    Maybe?

ETA: Why'd you post this? Because, you know, I *HAD* to take a look at babies in my area. This little guy looks like he could be the baby brother of my Posy. Those spots and those big, bat ears and doleful eyes! ::sigh::

ETA again: I'm pleased to see that the organization sponsoring this boy is the one we donated to in memory of our Pip when he died. They do good work. :-)

(And sorry for highjacking your thread. Kitties are just a much-loved subject matter for me.)

    What a handsome fella!

And I say when my oldest cat passes I will NOT get another cat. I will stay at two cats. I've said that before and then something comes up to change my mind. I think he would change my mind. Hmmmm....oldest is 19.....probably only a year or two with four.....and I'm retired at the end of May. Maybe if we didn't take them in the car to our lake place all the time. It's crowded and crazy enough with three of them in there.

I should stop surfing PetFinder...probably a good thing he's 100 miles away from me.

Right now I am a two-cat household, as Orion passed a month or so ago.

Fortunately that cat is in Wisconsin, so I'm not prompted to run out and get my ideal number of three in this house. But perhaps two is indeed an ideal number. Besides, I doubt Obi-Wan really would like a strange cat here.

I think I'm learning to "never say never" where cats are concerned. I swore we wouldn't adopt another when we lost Pip, and then we did. And then we did again. I know what you mean about surfing PetFinder though. It's addictive and enabling, isn't it?

My big beautiful boy is under the weather today and his mamma is worrying. I rushed a stool sample to the vet.

I am hope this thread popping up today is not an omen. :(

ETA- Hubba Bubba is a beauty and I hope he finds a great home even if it is not with you.

local - what's happening with your kitty? Is he a senior cat?

100 miles is a perfect Saturday morning trip, start at the pancake house, pancakes sausage eggs coffee, then ready to roll and see the beautiful countryside, pick up your beautiful new kitty, head home just in time for lunch and a nap with the new cat.

Thanks for asking 3katz. No he is not a senior. The vet thinks that perhaps he didnt eat or drink when DH and I were away over the weekend and he was home with just our son so got constipated and dehydrated. Hoping that is the issue.

oh come on 4katz4me - what's one more beautiful addition to your household.

What a stunning creature! If he were out here I would be in the car by now. We have two kitties and DH says absolutely no more than two, but an exception would have to be made.

He is such a beauty that I'm thinking that he is going to find a forever home pretty quickly.

I am seriously preoccupied with this cat. I don't know how we'd sleep with FOUR cats on the bed and I'm sure it would be somewhat traumatic for my old cat who would rather be an only cat.

Petfinder is a dangerous place to hang out -ask me how I know!!!

    Get him! He's striking!

I wish I could have cats, but my brother and I both developed cat allergies later in life and so cannot be around them. My favorite cat of all time was a Burmese, and he had the softest fur - it felt like sable. He also had the best personality of all of the cats that I've had. My brother used to raise (and sell) Abyssinian cats, but they are extremely rambunctious, and I would not want one of those, although they are extremely affectionate, which is why I think he liked them. He's done a lot of paintings of them - some so abstract that I did not know there was a cat in the painting.

What’s one more??? He’s really handsome. But I am glad you are considering your senior cat. You really do hate to upset the apple cart when it comes to cats. Probably best to wait. But you could advocate for him with your friends or sponsor him in the meantime!

We have five, all seniors, and it’s challenging from a personality mix perspective, not to mention vet expenses and the litter boxes. We are also fostering a stray guy we took in before the polar vortex hit. We’ve had him for three whole months and I can’t find him a home because he’s skittish plus it’s kitten season. With me, he is super loving, loves to play, and is a classic velcro cat. He hides when anyone else comes into the room.

He reminds me of a cat I fostered -- just has added white. He couldn't stay because our younger dog was not friendly to him, but he sure was a good looking fella. I wouldn't try to talk you out of getting him, but I also wouldn't encourage anyone to exceed what they are comfortable having.

Well since some of you have more than four I sent an inquiry to the shelter asking if he's been waiting long for a home. I'm going to float the idea by DH tonight. My older cat was solo for a very short time. When I got my first siamese cat the older one went on a hunger strike for two weeks. I thought something was seriously wrong with her but it was mental distress. The cure was 20 minutes of undivided attention per day. However when I got the last new cat she hissed and gave her a swat and pretty much ignored her after that. I think she didn't get as worked up when she was older.

Look at that muzzle! I'm a sucker for wide-muzzled cats.

Speaking of beautiful muzzles, yesterday I got an early morning nixle alert that a few blocks in the downtown of my city were closed because there was a mountain lion in a planter box next to the mall. He was a 40-lb. youngster and successfully sedated and removed. Nobody can figure out how he got there.

OMG, he’s a stunner! How beautiful he is! Please get him for all of us.

As mentioned a while back, this is a real group of enablers.....

3katz4me - How does one determine one's cat limit? I grew up with only dogs, as did Dear ex-DH and DH. However, due to DD's job at the animal shelter, we have a cat now, as do dear ex-DH and my beloved ex-in-laws. Our first - and current - cat - Shadow - tries to sleep on the bed and I simply lift her up and place her elsewhere (hot flashes!) . Perhaps an option? (The cat you are following is lovely, I hope this works out for you).

Here is our Shadow down in the greenhouse today. Cute you might say, but just wait until you walk in to see the plants she's chomped....

    last modified: 6 years ago

Shadow looks a lot like my first cat. Plants - I have none within reach of a cat. No way my cats would accept being given the boot off the bed. Maybe there’s a chance a new one would rather sleep somewhere else.

DH didnt seem at all opposed to the idea of four cats. Hmmmm.....

I hope you go for it. He’s gorgeous, but even if he wasn’t so darn handsome, with a name like Hubba Bubba, he’s got to be a real lovey. I’ve always been of the mind that when an animal speaks to you like that, it’s just meant to be.

    He is gorgeous. Good luck!

I wish our home was larger in that two cats is probably the limit. I have the same square footage as my townhouse but I had a basement and a loft where the cats could get away from each other. Here, there are limited to one small house on a single level.

DH thinks I should go check him out. I said if I drive two hours to check him out we need to be prepared for me to bring him home. I submitted an application today. These would be his new buddies. My older cat has no interest in buddies.

Yep. "Check him out ... just go and have a look ... Go see about him ..." -- Those are all code for, "Bring him home."

    Hooray! :-D

Teehee - will you have to change your username?

Get going girl, you need him lol. My son drove from Boston to Fla. to pick up a rescue kitten that he viewed on line. There were ten of them rescued from inside a train station. Only one was left and it was small but he felt he needed it.

He asked me to name her so I said Gypsy as she's been wandering her whole life. He eyes are brilliant green and she's a purebred Russian Blue cat. We had one for years and it was my favorite cat. He's so happy with her.

These stories warm my heart. Thanks for sharing pics, everyone. HubbaBubba looks like your family's long lost brother. Best wishes with whatever you decide, allthekatz4you. :)

LOL at Ida‘s comment. The joke in our family is that we have never, ever just “checked out” an animal without coming home with one. Or two. Once we had a cat named Pokey, a wacky gray cat who liked showers and one time, when we were away for a weekend, turned on the TV. Anyway, when we had to take her to be put down because of leukemia, we just “looked” at the shelter next to the animal hospital. And walked out with two new cats, Ben and Jerry.

I know that code. Our last 2 cats came to us after my husband wanted to go during out lunch hour to see if they had kittens at the shelter - just to look, not get anything. We got 2. Had them 19 years,

What! No new cat yet? I keep checking back here to find out if you've welcomed your new feline.

Sueb, when my DH was little his mom made the mistake of taking him and his two sisters to the vet's office to pick out "a" kitten...you know the rest of that story! LOL

I called the shelter tonight and found out he was adopted a few days ago though he still appears on PetFinder. Things work out for the best - just not meant to have #4 right now. My old kitty is sitting beside me - that may well be the reason we’re not meant to have a #4.

Aw :( Well, I'm glad he was adopted, 3katz.

Awww, I'm so sorry. I know that was a disappointment, even though a happy thing for Hubba Bubba.

OMG, I was so rooting for you and was not ready to read the update. I hope that he found a home that is as good as the one you would have given him.

I am picturing HubbaBubba curled up on the lap of a 9 yo who is developing a lifelong love of kitties.

    3katz4u4now

ps vet said my kitty is fine :)

la la la la la ( I refuse to look at cute orphan pets) la la la la la

Well I'm glad he has a new home.

Not a cat person...but you had me at "Hubba bubba".

Localeater, I'm glad to hear your kitty is fine!

I second that - glad it was nothing serious!

I'm glad he did find a home and hoping it's a home where he will be well-loved.

Gorgeous kitty. I’d be the sort that updates ask to be on the “waiting” or return list in the he didn’t work out for his new family.

I too developed a sensitivity (airways) to cats as I got older. Makes me sad, because I love cats (and dogs). Some cat fur is more problematic that other types (for some reason).

Localeater, I’m glad you cat checked out fine.
