I'm moving into a new to me home. I'm starting to think about decorating options. I've got very traditional furnishings with lots of antiques and Persian carpets. The house has medium colored hardwood flooring throughout. Currently the walls and trim are painted in white.

I'm going to need to acquire an additional rug for the large, central family room. The floorplan is semi-open with the staircase in the same room and two story vaulted ceiling.

I have Persian rugs for all of the other rooms with various shades of navy and red.

The question is, can I successfully use a sisal/wool rug in the large, central family room with these other rugs? Or, do I need to acquire another large Persian rug?

I'm looking at inspiration rooms and I like the calm vibe of the sisal. Can I mix them with the visually riotous Persian?
