Powder room accent wall ideas?
Hi everyone,
I am now thinking about the design for the powder room for my new house. It is a small space with a tall ceiling (10'). I would like to do an accent wall behind the vanity, but I also want to play up the height in that space. I came across this photo online:
I love how the mirror there is totally playing up the height of that space! I also love the dark accent wall behind the toilet, and the tiles are gorgeous.
However, if I do not want to do a tiled wall, which is very expensive, what other suggestions do you have please? I am open to all sorts of ideas that will create a dark feature wall with geometric patterns, so it is not just this particular pattern in the photo.

As for how to do it, I would paint the wall black and then cut several pieces of mdf of various sizes. Attach the mdf to the wall and paint the entire thing. I did something very similar with this cabinet that is in my dining room.

As for wallpaper, I just found this online.... what do you think?

ilikefriday, how about hexagonal tiles? Like these??? Love the contrast with the lighter grout!

PRO7 years agolast modified: 7 years agoThere is a relatively new product called Motion by AKDO (a tile maker). It's a slate composite that is engineered and adhered to a backing (similar to wall paper). Has the advantage of being able to wrap corners or cylindrical surfaces, and is of course quite thin compared to real stone. It does need a pro (not wallpaper installer) to install it but installation is a fraction of the cost of a tile or stone install. I think we did this one below for about $400 (not including the cost of the product). We've done a few fireplace surrounds with it as well. Interesting look. Something different.
