Exterior Remodel Planning and Products (Windows, Siding, Insulation)

Originally, I thought we would just replace some windows (and that may still be the plan). But then when we consider doing windows on our 1969 home, we are thinking of improving the insulation and replacing the siding.

I am narrowing the windows down and will figure that part out.

I have been reading about siding. Several window folks use the LP Smartside, and I just read about Boral TruExterior siding and it sounds fantastic. I see that one or two lumberyard type places can get it in our area.

I am not so sure what to do about insulation. It seems that blown in cellulose in the walls might be a good choice.

What do I need to know to move forward? Thanks.
