How do I banish the grass growing in my perennials?

How do I get rid of the grass growing in my perennials? Spring in northern Maine. I’m pulling the grass as fast as it grows but it’s a rather tedious task

I would love to hear what people say. I transplanted some perennials from an over grown garden bed last year and have the same problem. My sedum has some random grass growing out of it and I can't get rid of it.

Look up time of year when particular kind of perennial involved tolerates lifting and division for propagation purposes, dig clump at that time, wash the soil from it and cut it apart. The grass can then be extracted.
