Busy Pink/Beige Tile Floor - What Color for Countertops?

Planning the reno for our new home and really struggling with countertop choice. At our current home, I have a white countertop/white cabinet combo which I love, but the tile floor at our new home is throwing us off.

We are looking at marble, quartz, or quartzite, but I have no idea how to achieve the bright, airy kitchen I love without clashing with the floors. We've gone to a couple of fabricators, and they've shown us cool and busy patterns, but I haven't liked any of them. We ideally want a warm white countertop with gray/taupe veining to go with our warm white cabinets. We are considering replacing the tile in 3-5 years to match the rest of walnut hardwoods we're installing downstairs, but its important to me to have the counters/cabinets changed immediately. Any ideas?

If you're replacing the cabinets, replace the floor at the same time. It doesn't make sense to do a complete kitchen reno around an old floor you intend to replace in the future.

... have you thought about including floor replacement in your remodel? :)

Also, I assume a layout change is planned - primarily to get the cooktop off of the island and onto the perimeter

Agreed, I know it’s hard to wait, but do the whole renovation at once. A piecemeal plan generally produces a choppy result.

Agree with all of the above. No sense in replacing anything until you can replace everything including the floor. As you have already found, that floor is going to boss around all of your choices, the only thing that will help is changing it. Another plus of waiting to do all means you can also address the layout when you do the floors and make changes so it’s more functional, and while fixing the layout a hood can be added since that’s missing now.

A remake, using those same cabinets, but moving the cooktop, would be a bit more budget friendly. There looks to be a cabinet to the right of the oven that could hold the cooktop, and removing the uppers for a hood would be doable. The cabinets are great looking and it would be a shame to replace them. The whole wood and watm

IMO you change the floors when you change the cabinets not later.And I certainly would not spend money on new counters in a kitchen that you have no idea how it functions. New LED lighting for sure before choosing anything including the color for the cabinets . Do it right not piecemeal and you will have a space you love.

Not only are the floors proving difficult to work around, if you keep them and update everything else its only going to highlight how dated they are. The layout needs improvement so address that when planning the cabinets. Definitely replace the tile if you're doing a remodel. No point in doing 90% of an upgrade! Save up a little more to do it all right from the beginning.
