How to determine if it's an orange or white flowering Bird of paradise

I inherited this plant (it was probably a couple of years old) in 2011 in a rental apartment (the owner didn't want to take it along). I presumed it was a foliage houseplant. It has been kept mostly in bright indirect light until a couple of years back when I stumbled upon the fact that these things are birds of paradise that bloom. Now I keep it in a sunny window or outdoors in part shade depending on the weather. However, I have now stumbled into the realization that it might be the white blooming one, which means the chances of it blooming under the best conditions I can provide are slim to none. I have searched to see if one can tell from the foliage which one it is and it seems not other than probably the hight of the plant. Mine ses to be getting taller and has no orange hues in the foliage. Do I have the white version? It's in a 12" pot 9f deep and about 4.5' above soil. I moved it to this container from a 8“ container about 8-10 months back without disturbing the roots much. It had some really fat roots at the bottom and appeared to need a much bigger container but it appears that they bloom better if potbound with exposed roots on top. Hence the relatively shallow container.
