First bloom from my first rose (can anyone guess who she is??)

This is my very first season of growing roses. Here is a picture of the very first bloom, from the very first plant I put in the ground. It was a small band from heirloom, but it sure took off lightning fast. She’s been in the ground about a month and the smell is so wonderfully intoxicating, like sugared lemons and vanilla. This forum has definitely inspired a lot of my purchases and here’s a small way of giving back :)

Also, you will see her leaves are painted. There was an overspray mishap involving my husband and the paint gun. After some tears and frantic researching, I let it go and realized roses teach you “what will be will be”...and that they are not immune from Mother Nature or husbands with overzealous paint guns.

It's a great photo, whatever it is. I can almost smell it from your description. A wild guess would be Prosperity. But really impossible to tell from an immature band.

Well, that makes sense. Iceberg really is more or less a Hybrid Musk.

No matter how many years you end up growing roses, the first bloom on a new plant is always exciting. Thank you for the picture and welcome to the obsession!

Yes that first bloom is always anticipated! Here is a shrub Iceberg captured from someone’s front yard. Our extra rain gave otherwise neglected plants a boost and the cool weather made all the Icebergs in the neighborhood blush. This one was so spectacular I took a picture. Perspective is looking up.
