How would you style this wall around TV?

I have no idea how to style this wall around the TV so it looks balanced. The TV and console are not centered on the wall but are centered to the sofa so the console will need to stay where it is. Also, I’m not big on the picture wall idea as it ends up looking a bit cluttered to me. What would you do? (And yes, my dog sleeps in a cat bed.) TIA!

Would you consider built--ins or free-standing entertainment unit? I think your wall really calls for something substantial in size.

Hi, long windowless walls do have challenges. They need pieces that provide dimension so it doesn't look so.. well... long and flat. :) This wall really isn't too bad and with new pieces could look great. I'd agree with espc10. I think the lamps and clock should be taken away. They are too small. I'd put a tall house plant (slender tree perhaps?) by the window to fill in that space to center the console. I also agree the console is too small. And I think the tv is too small to carry the wall. My preference is to not see TV so I like to tuck them into a hutch. A great tree and properly sized, current looking hutch or armoire would keep it simple and balanced but if you want the tv out in the open a heftier console would be great with a house plant on the left as espc10 mentioned so it doesn't get cluttered with other things.

If you leave the tv as is, you'll have quite a lot of wall to work with. A single, wide (in proportion to the console) framed pic or saying wouldn't be too cluttered. Or well matted trio of family shots of equal size placed horizontally would also be peaceful. Maybe black and white with a black frame would blend with tv below and your green house plants would pop with an infusion of calming color.

Your layout looks just like mine. Is there a fireplace on the right wall by any chance?

I will post picture after I return home (tomorrow) to show you what I did for my long wall.

A long low console would be better, so you can put a table lamp or floor lamp on one end and remove the wall sconce. Remove the wall clock. I would add one large, horizontal art piece on the wall to the right of the TV. Then the tall lamp on one side would be balanced by the tall art on the other side, keeping the focus off the tv itself.

Agree with everyone else. Replace console with one that fits almost the whole width of wall. Slide tv to one side, add large art to other side. Because you have a large empty wall, you should be mindful of the scale of everything on that wall. Large wall, large console and large art. You could even go with a much bigger tv. You might also think about replacing ceiling fan with one more current and less granny.

Many times, photos tell you thongs that your eyes ignore, because you see them every day.
The tv wall, to me, looks small, out of scale with all your (larger scale) furniture.
You're there. What do you think?

Yes thank you, I agree with Espc10 and others who suggested a longer console. I have been looking for one but longer ones seem to be lower and I am concerned the TV will then be too low for comfortable viewing. I do not want to put the TV on the wall. This TV is not our main viewing one so it will need to stay as is.

Brown dog, I like the idea of off center placement of the TV on a longer console. Then putting art or plants on other side.

Oliviag/bring back Sophie, the wall is not small. It might be up high angle in taking the picture.

Donna cheek, yes lol I have a fireplace on the right side flanked by two windows. Would love to see what you’ve done. This area is open concept so not a lot of wall space to put art, pics etc except for this one wall. That’s why I don’t think I should do too much to it so it doesn’t unbalance the room??

:) I meant to say, the scale of furnishings on that wall was small.. not the wall itself. I think you already see the problems.

Calidesign, thanks I love your idea.

Oliviag/bring back Sophie, yes I totally agree.

When looking for a console, be sure you target those made for a tv. Most of those will measure 28-30 inches high, which appears to be the standard for comfortable viewing. I think it would be more comfortable to view down than to view up.

Julesann, this is how I solved the “long” wall problem. As you can see, my style is very traditional. I love the other rooms that have been posted as suggestions. You’ve received some good ideas.

Donna cheek your room is beautiful and cozy looking. Your room layout really does look like mine. Lol. I do like what you did with the wall it’s balanced but not overdone. Thank you!
