house exterior color etc

May be a crazy question, but how do you determine whether to paint/stain garage doors body color or trim color etc? In this picture I think the look great painted the darker color. Is there a rule of thumb?

There is not really a rule of thumb, honestly. Matching the body of the home seems to make the garage door stand out less. Many also repeat the trim color or the accent color. If you visit the Sherwin Williams website, they have a ColorSnap Visualizer that allows you to upload a photo of a home and play with different color schemes. They also have nice exterior color schemes for various home styles.

At SAB Homes, we do try to list all of the exterior colors used, as do many who share photos on Houzz.
