Black frame with (creamy) white mat? You could always go to an arts and crafts store, like Michaels. At the framing department, they can show you a computerized version of what different mats/frames would look like.

I agree with Lil to simplify the framing -- the current matting distracts from the lovely image. I also agree that Michael's is an option. They have a good selection of both custom and readymade frames and mats. I've found their staff to be very helpful. Find a coupon online.

It's a great picture just a little dated. I too would go to a frame shop and have them put the examples (mats and frames) up against the picture. You may be surprised what you like.

Thank you so much everyone. Yes, I will go to Michael's and check out the frames. I do love this painting, it is an original and not a print. The framing and matting was done in the 70's I think. Michael's can show a computerized version? That would be awesome! Thank you so much.

ps. I don't know if it's possible but I'd love to have this piece on a large canvas. I get a lot of glare from the glass. Just a thought.

I recently took an original print to Michaels to have framed. I picked several combinations to try and the clerk uploaded them along with my print into the computer. It made it much easier to visualize.
