Advice on engineered hardwood flooring selection please

building a new home with hardwood basically everywhere, it is our preference.

the hardwood we initially chose is apparently out of production so we had to choose between a few other options which were similar in color to the original.

we have it narrowed to two choices, different technical specs, quite significant difference in price.

Both are from the urban floor line. The first choice is called Savanna Cobra, with 1/2 inch thick, 1.2 mm wear layer, with high density fiberboard core. This choice would be a credit of about 4,500 from our initial selection.

The second choice is Villa Caprisi Trentino, 5/8 inch thick, 4 mm wear layer, with cross grain multiply core. This choice would cost an addition $11,000 from our initial choice.

Cost difference between the two is about $15,000, just looking for some opinions. We probably like the look of the cheaper hardwood better. We have two kids, no pets, and don't wear shoes in our house. Could live with some imperfections in the wood but should we expect the finish to degrade enough that the wear layer thins to the core?

Leaning towards the first choice, but wanted to hear other opinions first. Thanks for your time.
