"Instant Hot Water" taps and tanks in kitchens

I would love to add an instant hot water tap to my kitchen remodel. I know it is a feature that I would use daily.

My concern is with the reviews that I have read on them. They seem to last somewhere between 2 and 5 years before they break and need replaced. And if I'm reading about them correctly, the failure mode seems to be that the holding tank breaks and spills a gallon of water onto your floor (which would be quite the problem for those of us with hardwood in our kitchens).

Is this accurate? ... are there brands that are more reliable than others? ... or is there a brand that when it "fails" it doesn't result in a flood of water?

I've had one in the last three homes I owned and I wouldn't live without it! I am a tea drinker and this is so handy! Also good when you want to boil something in a hurry and get a head start with the already near boiling water. The brand I've used was insinkerator. Never had a leak, I always install a filter in front of the tank so as the water goes into the tank it is purified. Good luck, you will love it.

If you love hot tea, perhaps this has some benefit. Rinsing fruits in hot water, perhaps. Using it to fill a pot for faster boiling water - well it takes longer than a regular faucet spout and a high end stovetop will boil water pretty fast - so why would I want to spend time waiting for the pot to fill from this little spout, I think NOT. Overall, it is an expense that some love and others like me just don't get.
