Thanks for responding!! I think he sees it as "less elegant" and as needing to have a precise purpose. He will also need to take it down to paint the ceiling. We have costs for the rest of the space- construction costs- so really trying to assess if 3K is well spent painting and removing these- or if 3K better spent on the other parts of construction budget.

PS- we actually have a lot of good art work- so it might be nice to have walls well highlighted with the track lights. Also- the space could stand brightening- as 2 of 3 offices have no windows.

Before you remove the track lighting, look at the coat of replacing the lights with small profile LED fixtures. Perhaps switching to a different light will give you an updated look for less money than full replacement. I had track lighting in my basement office area because it is practical and easy to record figure if the needs change.

I would probably save the money for other purposes, especially if keeping the existing lighting would mean you could forgo the electrician

Yes, I was going to ask if you had artwork. That lighting is perfect for art.

We are Benj. Moore paint people. The contractor wants to use SW. That would change our desire from BM-White Dove to SW-Alabaster, combined with SW-Accessible Beige for doors. I am only concerned because SW rarely makes the "Best Paints" lists. Are the top tier SW's as good? If so- why are they not making the "best" lists? Here is an example.
