Sudden influx of hummingbirds

Charles Clark

I have a sudden influx of hummingbirds in western Louisiana in July. 4 feeders and had 3-4 hummingbirds that stayed beyond migration. 2 days a ago, an additional 5-7 showed up and now there are at least 8-10 chasing each other all over the yard IN JULY! Standard size feeders (3 total) are going empty in 2 days. Any ideas? Babies flying now? Would parents agress against their young? Relocation from tropical storm Barry?

You may have received hummers that were going to someone else's feeder. The other feeder(s) may have been left untended or stale. I have been in East Texas for almost 40 years, and I have never seen much evidence of migration in July, so it is probably locals.
