Help me decorate my attempt at a mountain modern bedroom!

Hey guys, we moved into a new house, and I was hoping for some help with our new bedroom. The style of our house is somewhat mountain modern, especially the master.

Art ideas welcome, however I won’t buy mass produced prints (sounds snotty, but I paint and have a lot of painter photographer friends I’d support instead)

I just today painted the bedroom SW Porpoise (looove) and installed the roller shades. The only thing that is staying other than the furniture is my Pendleton blanket. Struggling with colors for a new duvet and pillow ideas. Refresh the lampshades? Eventually we would like to carry our wood floors into the master, but other projects take priority.

I’ve included pictures of the master bath to see where things are going. Please note the piece of stone on the counter will be installed on the entire vanity wall surround the mirrors, and we have some fun light fixtures to install.

Thanks in advance!

Here are some daytime pictures too. Please don’t mind the mess on the bed and the excessive firewood project in the backyard hahah

It's a really pretty room, and I like what you already have going on with the bedding. I wouldn't do anything in bright colors, but stick with white or greige. Nothing too dark, since the walls and furniture are dark and you need some lightness in the room. For accent colors, I'd stick with red and maybe some orange. You could pick those up in artwork. If you want more color, you could change out the lamps for something with a colored base.

    Is the carpet staying?

You have an awful lot of brown and grey in your room. I'd go for a white duvet and pillow cases/shams.

We will eventually carry in the wood floors into the bedroom (oak), but that is towards the back of the project list. I was also thinking white for bedding to brighten up the bed!

Do you think this “frosted gray” from west elm would work?

Congratulations on your new home - such a great space! I would keep the comforter and the rest of the bedding white. Once wood floors are down, a nice large rug. Would you consider painting the window sill that's currently white the wall color? I find the white lines they create shocking to the eye. The one over the bed is especially distracting. Also pull the dresser out of the corner. Once you find or paint that perfect piece of art to hang over it, that will be a nice focal point. Such great windows and light.

Good point on the trim Allison! I’ll consider that. I think once the wood floors go in it’ll warm things up a bit. I’ll throw a white duvet for the guest room on the bed to see how it jives with everything! And yes in the dresser in the corner, good call!

Threw and existing small white duvet for reference before work real quick. Bed isn’t pretty, but I think the white looks great! Really let’s the blanket shine. Thoughts?

I think the white looks good (also better than the previous color) and gives that modern mountain look you mentioned in the OP. It also plays nicely with the white ceiling, which before stood out a lot to my eyes.

I would still paint the window sills. No Photoshop, so it's just blurred...

We love mountain modern homes, especially bedrooms. The white duvet is perfect with the dark walls and Pendleton blanket; adding lighting pieces through bedding and artwork will help brighten the space and provide contrast for the walls.

As far as art for the room goes, you can keep it neutral to let the blanket shine or add more dimension and color to balance the blanket. In this room, we added art that was more colorful than the rest of the room, but because it stands alone, it shines:

A more subtle and modern option:

You can also add visually interesting light fixtures, especially any that will pop against the darker paint of your room:

The colors and textures you have here are already a beautiful starting point. Good luck adding those finishing touches!
