Help me choose an area rug

last modified: 6 years ago

Had to get rid of my area rug due to babysitting my sisters doggy and her deciding my rug was a great place to relieve herself. No amount of vinegar, baking soda, pet neutralizer, etc could save it. So please help me choose a rug to put in place! I'm on the first floor and get a fair amount of light for a few hours in the afternoon, but afterwards, it's a bit dark as the windows are south facing with the neighbors house hindering maximum sunlight.

I love the look of the abstract rug, but it's polypropylene. Kinda soft, but very durable. The other, is a more traditional look, and not sure how it will complement the room, but I love that it's 100% microfiber. I never had a microfiber rug before so I'm not sure if I could shampoo it myself if needed, but I assume it's going to feel very soft and velvety.

My taste is more transitional and this weekend, I will be painting my living room window sills and baseboards white in Behr Bakery Box.

Abstract Rug / Polypropylene
Traditional Rug / Microfiber
