PLEASE help me add some LIFE with final touches on my new kitchen!!!!

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><md>We’ve(finally) got the major aspects of our new kitchen up and running!! Other than a few DIY’s were about done.
Now I need some serious help with the finishing touches. I am having the hardest time incorporating any type of color or texture into the new black/white scheme we’ve got going on.
Our kitchen, dining area, and living room are all open to each other, so the theme has to carry into the majority of our living spaces. (Or does it??)

I'm pretty sure the experts will ask for pictures to give advice accordingly! :)

Shoot! Idk why the pictures didn’t post! Let me try again...

I'm def. NOT a pro., but I would add hardware to your cabinets. They're like jewelry for the kitchen.

I'd also add a pendent light right over your sink. I know others may poo poo on light over sink, but I think it will really brighten up that one spot and give a little more life to the space.

If it were my kitchen, I'd have the metal in the pendent light compliment/match whatever you pick for your kitchen cabinet hardware.

Thanks jora! Do you think I should do chrome or black hardware?

I wouldn't do black. I think you need to incorporate a third color to break up the black and white!

I can't really see your backsplash, but it looks to me like it may have some silver in it? If so, I would pick up on that.

I may be wrong, but doesn't chrome have a yellow cast to it? Not sure that would work!

It looks very nice. It appears your blpack and white theme continues into the dining area. Is that right? You definitely want the 3 areas to be coordinated. It’s one space.

The biggest impact areas are going to be your windows, sliding doors, rugs, and the artwork you choose for over the fireplace. I would focus on finding things you love that are cohesive for those spots and they will give your space color and texture.

What are you thinking about for the windows? IMO the vertical blinds should go, I would think about replacing them with a different blind or shade flanked by panels.

For your cabinet hardware black, satin nickel, stainless, chrome.... any would work.

Personally, I think your kitchen only needs hardware. Once the counters are bare it will look so sleek and clean. You can add some color in bar stools if you were going to get any. I’d focus your effort and budget in the other spaces: new dining light fixture, new window treatment (the vertical blinds are dated- Roman shade or bamboo blinds with drapery panels), large piece of art over mantle.

I’m a fan of plant life for color, texture, and air benefits! I’d add some green plants above the kitchen cabinets with colorful/fun vases. They also make memory foam kitchen mats in cool patterns and fun colors. Also, I would do chrome hardware over black.

A rug in front of the sink would be cute.

Localeater- thank you! Yes, the verticals shades are definitely being replaced. Haha i didn’t want to get them until the kitchen was finished so I could have a better idea of color and texture. The problem is- I don’t know what I love! Haha

Gcubed- the pictures I originally used had much better lighting and the kitchen was actually somewhat put together. :/ Ha ha

What color/metal for light fixtures would you suggest with the chrome hardware? And what colors/patterns for the window coverings?

Shadywillow- what color of rug do you think would go well with the black/white??

    Hey Andi,

great job on the renovation it looks great! I would add some hardware to those cabinets. I actually would recommend a Satin Nickel or maybe even a Satin Brass to add a little pop of color to the room. Century Hardware's Modern Geo and Glamour collections would look really neat in that space! Best wishes!

I think your kitchen looks great, however I would change out your light fixture above your eating area and add another one above your sink area, and have them compliment each other.

    >Gcubed-
Yes, Both are being replaced. The original home owners didn’t put any recessed lighting in the living room and wired outlets to multiple different light switches ‍♀️ So we plan on getting a fan with a flush mounted light to help with the lack of lighting.

    Century Hardware-
    Thank you!!
I like the brass idea! Would that clash with the SS appliances?
Also, would you get the same color/metal for light fixtures?

    Casco-
    Thank you!
When you say compliment, do you mean match? Like Silver and silver? Or just two complimenting colors/metals?

Although I'm all for mixed metals, not sure if I'd pick brass with your gorgeous kitchen.
