Help with new kitchen table: Canadel vs Calligaris vs Saloom

I'm shopping for a new kitchen table and chairs for my breakfast "nook." I have a formal dining room, which I use as a den, so this is my only table area. I gave my son my round (-> oval) oak pedestal table to take to his apartment. See attached photos of oak table.

I want to be able to seat four people comfortably and up to six (OK if crowded)

One store suggested a Canadel table (solid birch), made in Canada, in either an extendable boat-shape or a 48-inch fixed round with glass top ("Downtown" collection), but they have no Canadel furniture in the showroom.

Another store carries Saloom solid maple tables (made in USA) and the more modern Calligaris tables (from Italy) in a mix of materials.

I'm thinking about the Saloom K-base in extendible boat-shape or the Calligaris Levante table, which has an extendable glass top (see pics attached). The Levante table legs are beechwod, while the frame supporting the top is metal. I like the modern look, but between the beech wood, glass, and metal, it makes for a heavy table -- 200 lbs.

Any suggestions?

Sorry, I didn't have complete information. You could get a rectangular or oval table to put flush against the windows but that you can pull when you want to seat more people. I love your light though I'd lower it by a foot to connect it to whatever table you choose. Get a white table with an oak top or an oak or other wood table and paint your oak chairs white to link with your kitchen. You can also mix up chairs--no reason they all have to be the same. Get some wonderful curtains for the window. Here are some inspiration photos to bring that space up a notch.

You have a rather formal lovely pendant. Since this is your main dining area, consider an armless upholstered dining bench under the flat section of your bay with legs that match whatever table you get. An long oval table would fit well in that area.

Housegal200: Thanks for the quick response. The chandelier above the table has nothing to do with the rest of the house -- long story, but it's there for sentimental reasons.

There's not enough space for all that upholstered furniture. I like to sit facing the window. So, except when there's company, I prefer to be able to push the table up against the wall. I would have no place to move a couch out of the way. Having a couch on one side and chairs on the other side, would block pass-thru to family room.

The table in the last inspiration photo above is from Crate & B - I was there this week but didn't see anything that would work in my space.

Here are more photos that show the pass-thru to the family room from the breakfast nook. The red oak table matched the original cabinets in the kitchen, not the remodeled white lacquer cabinets. The porcelain floor tiles are 12x24"

housegal200. Thanks. As much as I like the Calligaris Levante table, I think it will be too heavy to shift back and forth. Electrician was unable to hang this chandelier any lower --- chain too short. The oak chairs went to my son's apt. The three windows face southwest and are covered with wood shutters. Curtains would be a waste.

I like the idea of a white table -- legs? top? or both?

I decided on a round 54" oak table with upholstered chairs. (The plastic covers on the chairs are to dissuade my rescue cat from mistaking them for scratching posts. ) And now I think that I really do need to consider a different chandelier over the table. I'm looking for white counter stools to coordinate with the table.
