Wormy Apples, but what kind of worm and what to do?

September 9, 2019

We have a Liberty apple tree that for the last few years has produced apples with tons of worms. This year there are more fruits than ever that look beautiful until closer inspection shows worm holes and when cut open lots of small brown pathways. What kind of work is this and what should I do to combat?

I only want to use Organic methods. I've been watching some videos on coddling moth where they say one of the first things to try is to pick up fallen fruit and dead leaves during the growing season and keep it as clean as possible.

Any links to combating PNW fruit pests appreciated.

As it is now those apples are only going to be enjoyed by our local bear.
