Rarely do stone and brick mix well together. I’d suggest picking one or the other.

We seem to see this basic plan several times a week with the same question, and the answers are always the same.

Two materials -- stone or brick, not both, and siding.

Consider for the first floor, all masonry -- brick or stone, with siding above.

Or, masonry at the foundation level with siding above.

Are you locked in to this design? Are you able to/interested in making changes?

What did the designer of the house suggest?

It looks like a lot of other houses posted on Houzz, perhaps you can see what other people did with their "custom home".

Agree with limiting materials. For this style I would suggest brick and siding. Not wild about the types of stone used on these types of houses. The brick should be a more "rustic" style (e.g. Belden Brick's Belcrest 760 or similar), as this is not a formal/classical home. For the elevation above I would keep brick at the ends, but keep the in-between as all siding. The mix of brick heights in those areas looks odd.

Less roof, fewer gables.

Being in Texas, I do often see brick & stone mixed together. It can be done right but not everyone knows how. Unless you have examples you like of it mixed, I'd stick with 2 materials max.

Why is the roof so massive?

I'm guessing there are rooms inside where there's very little natural light?

Brick and stone. I've seen it done very well in the past. Do you want to do maint. in the future for siding?
