Your room is lovely, furniture not so much. I would get a long low console table for under the tv and remove cabinet and chair from room. Then remove all pillows and accessories, then put about half of them back. Sofa seems too big for room but if everything is more streamlined it may work until it’s time for replacement. Again, I think your room has great potential, new wall paint is a winner.

I think the sectional is to big for the space. Maybe you could shift the sectional away from the fireplace and closer to the tv, if there’s enough room? Or do you have another room you could swap the furniture out? Not sure what to do with the tv wall. I’m a fan of leaving those blank as long as it isn’t huge. I would also consider art that is more horizontal over the fireplace, I think it would look better.

Thanks for the suggestions! We could possibly take one small piece of the sectional along the wall out, a single seat, but would need to really consider - we wanted to have as much comfortable seating as possible in this family room so that family plus kids’ friends can hang out and comfortably watch TV. Any ideas about window treatments?

Very full drapes in a fun colorful fabric on each side of the 4 windows. Probably 3 panels on each side if you buy ready made drapes. Then you could get some coordinating pillows for the sofa. We could use a close up picture of your area rug for more suggestions.

Too much stuff and why are there 5 lamps in this small room? Eliminate the torchiere as the light it casts is on the ceiling and does nothing for this room.

Once you remove the large cabinet, center the TV on the wall.

Move the table and lamp to the other side of the chair so the light does not conflict with the TV

With your large sofa and blinds, I don't see a huge need for additional wall treatments. I agree the room needs more breathing room.

Just wanted to say thank you for the photo of SW Navajo White against ”another white” trim. This is something I’m currently thinking about (in my case potentially with SW Greek Villa trim).
