Please help! Need professional advice!

September 28, 2019

We’ve put in an addition to our kitchen. We decided to go with tile for the floors and have an open floor concept into our living room, which is wood and so is the rest of the 1st floor.

The flooring went in and I’m livid about how much higher the tile floors are in comparison to the existing wood floors! An entire inch high! Our old kitchen had tile and it was 100% flush, so I’m not understanding why the new tile floor is so high!!! Contractor advised floors were crooked and they had to add wood and concrete to make it even. But they weren’t crooked before. Our old floors were perfectly fine (no cracks or nothing wrong with it).

Also the big transition piece is 1 inch high to the far left and smaller to the right. It’s not the same height throughout.

We requested to stop the job, as we feel this is not being done correctly. Please give us some advice - not sure where to go from here.
