Rug color for charcoal gray couch

I'm hoping you guys can help me. I have a charcoal gray couch (on the blue side of gray), a grayish brown accent wall behind the couch. I need a rug to go with it. The one in the picture, i just bought, but I feel it clashes with my accent wall behind the couch...any ideas/suggestions? Thanks in advance!

I agree. At least on my monitor, it all blends nicely. Nice choice.

Sectional and rug are okay, but why did you paint an accent color on one wall?

There is nothing important there to accent.

Either leave be and find a large piece of art that will attempt at making it all work

or paint the wall as the other three and choose any art you love.

The little light in the corner isn’t helping either wall color.

Thank u. which light on the corner? nothing on the right aide (looking at the pic) is not staying there it's just a candle warmer that needed a temp place to sit

there is a wall across from the couch that is the same color as the accent wall

I am trying to make it cozy and comfy, working with what i have so far couch wise, then trying to put it all together around that. This decorating is FAR from my forte, so I really appreciate all feedback :)

Here is a better example of art which pulls in all your colors. The reason the wall and rug aren’t working together is the wall has a pink undertone and the rug is a greige/taupe.

would u suggest a different rug?

I like that art! I can look for a different rug tkk and return that one

try turning the rug first, you have it the wrong direction for the room.

I will do that tonight. its an 8x10 rug not sure if would work that way but I'm willing to try! I can also paint that wall back to white. the other walls besides the one on the opposite wall are all white

I would get a paint color suggestion for all the walls, i think white white might be too much. @JudyG Designs what do you think?

what did u think if this rug?

@RL Relocation LLC did u mean run the carpet length wise...horizontal to the couch?

I put a different rug down

Hey the first one looks better according to me. That complements the paint and the couch better. :)

The first rug is better. It also looks better turned! My question now is do you have to stick with the room set up the way it is?

Yes, because of the way the couch is, and my living room layout its best that way...I am not sure where else I could put it...

Turn the couch so the back is on the window wall, put the tv where the small aquarium is now put the large aquarium on the wall the sofa is on now. I see a coat hook so I am wondering if there is a door on that wall. you could also flip the sofa to float in the room and have it face the wall it is on now and then put the tv on the longest wall and work on the aquarium placement.

yes the front door is next to the coat hanger. I will try that this weekend. the only problem is the L shape on the couch may block the entrance by the door

I will try each of those ideas and send pics this weekend

my only issue with the couch by the window is I have OCD (lol) so if its not centered to the window it might bug and/or look funny. I will try it though. I wish the long part of the couch was in the other end! ugh

Well you can extend the curtains to make it look even and know one will know. Bare that in mind, lots of people have off-center windows. http://blog.drapestyle.com/drapery-design-advice/ideas-for-camouflaging-problem-windows

You rock! that is a great idea!

I am gonna toy with some of these ideas...

I would try flipping the couch first as it would probably give you the most usable wall back to working space.

u mean like just turn it around? ans have the tv on the wall behind it!

its hard to tell what is going on with the wall the tv is on now.

I had this in my phone...older pics but this give u an idea. And also an older pic but shows u the door
I can take pics tonight if u need more. I'm not home at the moment

So if you flip the sofa you will kinda create yourself and "entryway" with the back of the sofa to the door, but might work with the sofa on the window wall too. Then you might be able to use that weird corner wall for one of the aquariums

I think the window is best. I feel if its flipped 2 things: living room would seem smaller and I don't necessarily want my back for the door and stairs

only issue with the couch by the window is my dog may jump on it to look out lol

    lol, yes then there's that.

so the couch DEF will not work by the window, its too big and blocks the entry. In the middle of the room it looks bad and blocks the entry to the kitchen... I am going to have to keep it where it is and work with that. I grabbed some art work from other areas of the house (not permanent) and put it up just to get a feel and moved the tanks. here are the pics. I figured out how to sorta do panaramic lol so the pics look off a bit n rounded but I was trying to get u a better idea of the living room layout. I decided I probably need a different couch, but that in the future lol workin with what I have now.

The artwork helps the room a lot, but it it much too high on the wall needs to be about 4 inches off the back of the sofa.

    Ok, thank u

I would probably put the large aquarium back on that short wall you hung the one picture on. and center the sofa. would it be possible to put them in another room? At least the smaller one?

no I dont have another room for them and on that short walk I was going to put a console table

  • PRO

if you center the couch to the wall the aquarium might be better than a console table. add an arc lamp coffee table

    what is that?
