How true is the adage, “Every corner costs $10k?”

October 7, 2019

We asked for a design with as few corners as possible and a simple roofline. The architect (yes, licensed architect and not a designer) created a design with 30 corners for a 2500 sq foot home. It is way out of our budget to build and we are working on prioritizing where to make changes to reduce build cost. We have heard repeatedly from those in the trades that “a corner costs $10k.” How true would you say that is from professional or personal experience?
