Something in Downtown LA would probably be a good mid point. You could also meet in Santa Monica, which would be a bit longer for her, but not a terrible drive.

I texted with my niece last night. She lives in Hollywood. I asked her for suggestions. She suggested Pasta Sisters in Culver City. I looked at the menu. I was thinking somewhere a little more upscale.

Mr. Chow was really good last time we were in LA.

Both Fleming's and Salt Creek Grille have locations in El Segundo by LAX. I know that's not equidistant, but most people here are accustomed to driving an hour to get to places, so your niece probably won't mind driving down to the LAX area for dinner. Her drive home will be quicker because it's after prime drive time.

It is going to be on a Sunday evening. I hope traffic won’t be an issue then.

"Upscale" may mean one thing, but a restaurant more 'down market' might well have much better food. etc.

I checked out the restaurant your niece recommended. Definitely very budget friendly for LA!

If she likes Italian food, I would recommend Pizzeria Mozza. If you are more adventurous and want Ethiopian food, I would recommend Meals by Genet.

There are countless good sushi and Korean restaurants to choose from as well.

If you want something hip, you could consider Neighbor in Venice.

DH and I are not sushi enthusiasts. The last time I had Korean BBQ was in Hong Kong on my honeymoon with XH. I loved it!

Thanks, Lars. Pizzeria Mozza and Neighbor both look good. I don’t think I’d get DH to an Ethiopian restaurant. He will not touch his food with his hands (yep, he’s the guy eating pizza with a knife and fork) and he’s not a fan of “exotic” food.
