Are the walls painted a dark or bright, or deep color? If they are then i might think of painting them. If they are more neutral I would do as jmm said first. You can always give a painting allowance in the sales contract. The chance of YOU picking the the exact colors that I would are fairly slim. Wouldn't spend the money unless I had to

I would need to see pictures maybe that red is the perfect backdrop to your furniture in which case I would leave it . Painting a whole house is expensive and time consuming and there is no way to know if the next owner loves or hates white walls. A realtor told us this kitchen would never sell surprise 11 days later for above asking.

A picture would be helpful. Is just one wall painted River Rouge? Why did she recommend painting the entire house? Is the house full of dark colors or are the walls in need of painting?

Use the same color for the walls as the trim, Decorator White. The wall's River Rouge is a deep red that may take several coats of primer to cover.

Yes, you need to paint over the red wall, it's a turn off to people who are trying to imagine themselves living there. Too much of your own personality in that color, no room for theirs. Where I live all the new listings are painted a pale warm gray e.g. BM Edgecomb Gray.
