Should I insist painter repainted crown moulding?

We are in the midst of repainting our house. I specified SW eminence flat white for the ceiling and SW cashmere medium luster extra white for trim. I got home and he had painted both ceiling and crown moulding in the LR and DR with the flat ceiling paint. Should I insist he repaints the crown moulding? Of course, husband thinks I’m making much ado about nothing. FYI, the LR walls have also been painted not the DR walls. Thanks.

    Hubby is wrong.

I would have him do it again. . A good painter would know that Crown Molding is trim and should be painted in a higher gloss than the ceiling. He either didn't know, which means he was a bad choice, or he knows and figured he could get away with doing shoddy work.

You paid good money to have the job done. It needs to be done right.

Would the hubby be okay if one of his employees did shoddy work? Would he be okay if his barber used the wrong blade and gave him a lousy haircut? Would he be okay if he had his car painted and they painted the trim with the same paint as the rest of the car?

Should you get what you paid for, hmmmmm how is that even a debate?!! This is the second man this week I've heard of who thinks it's a 'bother' to push for what YOU PAID FOR. That makes no sense!!!

Thanks all. DH thinks it looks beautiful with flat hence no need for a do over. If he only did half the research and lurking I did on Houzz and others about paint sheen, he’ll understand. Anyway, Painter is here and I told him to do over. All is well for now.

The whole point of trim is to make it different from the ceiling so do over no other choice.

SW cashmere medium luster extra white for trim

What finish/color did he use on the rest of the trim?

@JudyG Designs, he hadn't painted the rest of the trim as at yesterday but all trim will be SW cashmere medium luster in extra white.

If the painter is spraying, he maybe planning to do the trim with a brush.

The crown is trim and should be painted as part of the trim portion of the job. I would expect the trim to be painted after the ceilings are finished so this should just be included in the next phase of the paint job.

I see above that you talked with the painter already. If you hadn't discussed this I was going to suggest a comment when he gets started with the trim. "Oh, I love the trim paint! It looks great! I can't wait to see how nice the crown molding will look next to that freshly painted ceiling!"

Crown and baseboards are done using a higher sheen that the ceiling and walls. Hence, get the crown molding done in "Satin" (if using Sherwin Williams paint that is finish you want with flat finish on walls.) It could be worse. He could have done sheen on ceiling and walls! Arrkk! That would be bad.
