Dining Room...need to add some interest!

Not sure what to do to add some interest to my dining area. Would love some advice on how I can add some interest to my dining room. I will not be adding a buffet. Do I add more prints? Corners? Do I leave the extra chairs there? Not crazy about the vase so would like to remove. Also the table linen and gold prop will be removed (Just to give an idea for space). I tried to get as many angles of the room. There is one large wall across from the art work and then another wall with large opening to the kitchen area. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

I think you need an area rug to help make it feel finished.

I too think there are too many chairs, Remove the two in the corners to start. I like the vase with the sticks. It adds a lot of texture. You need something in the middle of the table, not sure what, but I will try and help.

    Here is some inspiration:

I would remove that window shade and get curtains, or cover it with sheers. It is hard to ignore. Yes to a colorful rug and art.

The area rug looks amazing! Unfortunately not in my budget at the moment. Could I get a way with using curtain panels? What color would you suggest? Also not sure what type or where to hang more art work? Definitely need something in the middle of the table.

You can use drapery panels, with a rod across the window, but the panels need to be full so they give the illusion of being able to cover the window. You an use a linen type drape to keep it neutral, or add some color or pattern to be more of a focal point.

A rug would definitely help. I would also consider some sort of centerpiece on the table, or even keeping it set with a simple set of dishes (I know it's not the most practical, but would definitely add to the space! maybe even make you use it more often....)

With the shade for privacy, you don't need to cover the windows with drapes but adding a drape panel on each side that covers only the window frame and the wall beside the window and then adding a pair of sheers to cover the two center verticals could help. If you choose drape panels with blue, you could use pale blue sheers with them.

Not a huge fan of looking at candle light bulbs. If the glass around the bulbs does not get hot, you might consider tinting the sides of the overhead light glass -- what color could depend upon what colors you choose for any rug or drapes you add..

Don't add more artwork -- too much for a room this size could just crowd the room.

Like the color blue that is in your art work. You might consider blue for your drape panels and a much more pale blue for your sheers.

Please keep sheers white; traditionally sheers are white. Better for your room are linen drape panels for just the sides of your windows and a valance of some kind above the window. The vase is good...the shadows are lovely. Add more artwork as you find something that you love.

If an area rug is not in your budget. Patterned drapes would look great in this room. No sheers in this room. Just a panel of drapes on each side of the window with the blind that is there.

Do you use this room often?..

Is rhe table a comfortable height for the chairs?

Thank you. I think curtain panels will add warmth to the room and Hanging them higher would add Height to the room.

Do not use on a daily basis. Use when entertaining guests and family but is the only dining area other than kitchen Island.

I like the vibe so far and agree with the others. A large LIVE plant in the corner would be nice (IKEA has nice cheap plants - I would avoid the ficus in the middle). Also look for textured panels (not sheer) in addition to the window treatments - maybe the reddish orange color in the art or a deep blue. There are some nice rugs out there that won't break the bank. I feel like the lighting could still be turned up a notch and perhaps lighting with a cooler tone would brighten it up (3500-4000K).

With what shows in your pics it seems you are somewhat of a minimalist...so i would be careful with any additions....curtains or drapes may look cramped in the space that is there for them....as is what is missing is a dramatic centerpiece for the table...something low and wide as the table seems a little tall for the chairs...i might remove the two chairs in the corners and have only 6 chairs...at the table ...again establishing a more roomy but minimal look... a runner in a thick textural material would be a nice contrast with all the hard surfaces....something organic,maybe,...like woven reeds or a thick handwoven African textile....since the light fixture is a row of lights...something soft in a fan shape would add to the contrast and will catch the eye....if the sky was the limit i would bring in fewer...but bigger...softer...more luxurious chairs ...to match the scale of the table and contrast with the table’s simplicity...

I have had so much luck with affordable area rugs on Wayfair lately. Might be worth taking a look!

From what I see of your counter stools and dining table and chairs you like modern and mid century pieces. I don't believe your chandelier goes well with them. It seems too transitional to me. I really like your furniture, but there is a lot of dark brown and black. The previous suggestions of blues or red/oranges in curtain panels or a rug would really bring this room to life. Good luck.
