Curious as to why you bought a traditional rolled arm sofa, when all your other desires are for Mid-Century modern? It's a lovely sofa, and you can mix styles, but since you are buying new, wonder why? So many great choices out there in MCM. Joybird has some great ones.

MCM furniture generally has open legs, such as the sofa I posted and the media cabinet you posted. Color is a trademark of MCM looks as well. Search here on Houzz for MCM living rooms and you will get some ideas.

I guess I was just thinking about this traditional rolled sofa because is a sleeper one and that’s something convenient for me. As you said Can I mix the styles? how ? should I stick with my sofa and look for a different style ? change my tv stand? All suggestions are really welcome! I am so naive on this ! It is so exciting to be doing your first place. To not make big mistakes, can you post room dimensions? Overall floor plan? That would help.

Here I attached the dimensions of the living room as well as a “Model” how the space looks.

Ok. Pretty tight space. I know you will need to keep scale of furniture smaller to not overwhelm the space. I will do layout options for you tomorrow. Nite

Luryin. Here are two potential layouts. Each little square is equal to one square foot. Your sofa needs to be 84-88” long max and no more than 38 deep. Notice in the model they used condo sized (small scale) sofa with small chaise and that piece is probably 80” long. So don’t be deceived. The sofa you posted is likely at least 84” long and sleepers are usually a bit bigger. So I tried to give you sofa, plus one guest chair, coffee table and lamps/lighting. Dotted line represents a rug. I also tried getting a small table for eating into the space in one layout. Take a look and tell me more about the way you see using this space. Then I can adjust accordingly.

I might use the dining area as a multipurpose space for a table/home office if you need home work space. Your biggest challenge is not over filling the space. So buy a tape measure and when we settle on basic arrangement, take final layout with you shopping and your tape measure. Measure measure measure. Remember, sales people sell furniture. You have to limit them.

Flo! Thank you for all the suggestion. This sofa I showed you is 86” long , 38 deep. I found it in Ashley because I have a credit with them so if it is the case I can change it for another one could fit better. I liked your layouts: sofa, guest chair, coffee table and lamps. I really would like to add a plant as well. (If you think could look fine)

For the dining space I was just thinking to get a small dining set for eating but the idea to use it as a multipurpose space sounds really good.

Sure, you could add live fiddle fig to space near windows. Depends on ultimate arrangement. It should be at least 5’ tall. Do you need home office spot?

I looked on Ashley website and it reminded me of issues to alert you to. Tips: avoid any pouffy styles. They take up much more physical and visual space. I would not buy sleeper sofa. Get as comfortable sofa as budget allows. Buy auto blow up bed normal height for guests. It can be deflated, rolled up and put in self store bag and tucked in closet. Do not buy countertop table for eating area. Very uncomfortable. A small corner banquette with small round table and a chair could work in eating area. I prefer putting more money into upholstered pieces because they need more quality. So just watch that. I saw this sofa at Ashley but Ashley upholstered pieces are all imports and not very good quality. Might use your credit for other pieces. Maybe nice guest chair. Fewer quality pieces will serve you better in the long run. But budget might limit at this point.

I think I would like the TV console on short wall because traffic flow through space might be better.

I am close to the store I am gonna stop to check it out this sofa you post. And there is so mane options for the guest chair . What should I have in mind color , shape , how big it is?

Guest chair must have arms of some kind. Should be 28” x 28” or close. Max 30x31”. Open legs a plus.

Then you could use some metal drink tables so there is more set down space. Here are some ideas. Lastly a colorful rug, a coordinating throw and a lumbar pillow for the sofa.

Daniel and James, a history of your comments shows that you're mostly interested in promoting the replica MCM furniture sold at Manhattan Home Design. You wouldn't happen to work there or own the store, or be friends or partners (personally or professionally) with someone who is, would you?

Also, there have been more than a dozen BBB complaints in the past three years about the store you've been recommending, which I would find problematic if I were looking to buy something there.

Your recent posts in this thread and others sound very similar to some by Gabriella Robbins, who's also promoting MCM replica furniture in general, and the store in particular. Are all of you friends or partners in this venture?

Luryin, I am Neha from Styldod. Given the ash color sofa, I would say try to add a bold pastel background. Since you have a light grey wall in the room, the trending Naval blue wall behind your sofa will look just great. This will also contrast nicely with the Scandinavian TV unit. Adding the same accent wall in the dining area will add more depth to a tight space. This combination with existing dark wooden flooring, a light accent chair, and white furniture, is a great style statement for your room. The image below to scale for your room based on the plan and photos you shared.

You can try adding different coffee tables as I have done above, here.

Sharing the second layout in another post.

I have tried to put together one more design with a slightly different layout, and a blend of modern and Scandinavian styles. Here I have experimented with lighter wooden flooring and added white brick texture to accent the wall. All the furniture is lofted to make the room a little bit more open as it is a small space. While I have shown a blue couch in this design, you can replace that with a daybed, as per your requirement. If you are adding a daybed than I would suggest removing some of the other items. Currently, I have added two smaller chairs and one accent chair to give you more seating. I would agree with Flo, that you can use the dining area as a home office or some such. I have kept it as a dining area for now but made it look a little informal with a white brick texture and lofted Scandinavian furniture. You may utilize this space as a home office when you are not dining.

Let me know if this is useful. I can help you more with the shopping recommendations if you can tell me more about your style preferences. You can try adding a different sofa and decor to your room yourself. Edit the 3D build I made to create your designs here. You can also schedule some time for a styling session with me here.

Thank you. I can not change the wall color because is a rent place. I would like to schedule the style session . Thx
