Where can I find a table like this?

Hello, I love this dining table from Pier1. The size of 66" is perfect for my condo. The problem is that it's engineered wood and top is too thin for my taste... I see similar tables of better quality, but they are way too big. Has a

Has anybody seen this style in a nice quality, and apartment-size anywhere? Thanks:)

Correction-the top is real wood but the base is engineered wood.

Urban Barnwood builds tables in the USA of solid, reclaimed barn Oak, in almost any size you want. No shortcuts here, these tables are solid and heavy. Expect to pay $ 2,500 or so depending on size, model and where shipping to.

You could also get a glass top made for the table to make it a more durable surface.

I am getting a very similar table from Millbrook Furniture in Utah. Gorgeous work.

"Engineered Woods" are made from sawmill scraps and glued together. The adhesives used are very often toxic formaldehydes if off-gassing is a concern. They do not respond well to moisture or humidity which can affect structural integrity. Because they are made from scraps and glue, they are often much less in costs than solid woods. There is no advantage to engineered wood in furniture other than a price point.

The Keeping Room says you. We see solid wood pedestals all the time that crack along grain lines as the expand and contract. Piecing wood and gluing them together often provide a stronger piece of wood.

How do you think butcher block wood is created? Engineered wood! See how this non-engineered wood failed?

I have this table, and I purchased it for the same reason, the size and the style. It is holding up very well, with 3 grandkids eating at it many times a week. At first I thought it may be soft, or stain, because of its finish, it’s not the shiny varnished top of our old set, but it has not stained or scratched. It has been scrubbed with all sorts of cleaning products and is doing great. Also at this price, when the style fades out in years to come, I will not feel guilty about replacing it!

Available in either brown or gray with a solid-oak base, at 72”, this table is slightly larger than the one from Pier One. Plus, there’s a 40% off code that expires at midnight TONIGHT that would take $798 off the regular price of $1,995.

Solid wood does not "fail" if properly constructed of kiln-dried wood and the piece is built by a cabinetmaker / company that understands proper joinery techniques. BeverlyFLADeziner your lack of knowledge of woodworking is evident.

The Keeping Room, I know where the majority of all the dining tables are being made and it's not in the USA under idea conditions.

I don't think telling someone they have to order a custom dining table for their condo is a reasonable solution.

Bottom line, if you love the table, get it.
