$” cans LEDs in 4000K undercabinet lighting more pots in the kitchen 3 pendants over the island and BTW the prep sink is useless where it is it needs to be near the fridge or serves no purpose a fridge next to a step is an accident waiting to happen .IMO dimmable lighting in a kitchen is really no nessessary just make sure the under cabinet lights are on a switch and also the pendants no need for dimmers. I would also move the island towrd the DR to allow 48” walkway where the stove is and you might need to shorten the island since you need more space in front of the fridge and also a counter depth fridge if not there already.

Thanks guys. Unfortunately, a skylight won't work because it would end up turning my house into an oven in the summer (west facing unshaded glass at 114 degrees would be pretty rough).

I have used slim LEDs like those you linked in other parts of the house, but I'd like them to face down and am having trouble finding slim LEDs that can also swivel. Like these: https://www.houzz.com/products/4-white-integrated-led-ultra-slim-swivel-recessed-lighting-kit-1-pack-prvw-vr~90760109, but those only come in 3000k, and I have a pretty strong preferance for 4000k. Am I looking for a unicorn?

And is it blasphemy to state that I don't like pendants? Like... any of them. At all.

Open to higher-quality options than Ikea, but I haven't found anything yet.

Instead of the clerestory window, why not a window and either side of the range? Does code allow for that?

I like the thinner/shallow recessed lights. Less to dust!

Instead of wall outlets, why not do the long outlet strips under the cabinets? Then you have a nice seamless backsplash. Maybe?

Is the range wall south? Are you getting blasted by afternoon sun on the sink wall? That’s a very tricky space to light! Ceiling looks higher than 11’ to me. Are you sure you will be able to get sconces above that window? There may be structure there, but you need the light. Personally, I think the surface mount LED discs are horrible, and the way you have the lights arranged isn’t going to get you light where you need it. Kitchen looks well thought out—you need someone with more experience for the lighting, I think. Good luck!

The range wall is south, and the garage is behind it. The garage has a flat roof--so we can do a window about 8.5' up on the wall. The peak of the ceiling is about 13', so it's at about 11' directly above the range. Yes--we get blasted by afternoon sun on the sink wall, though it is somewhat mitigated by a chunky porch pillar (all year) and a large oak tree (during summer). Specs for the range require 36" to the hood (it's a thermador pseudo-professional gas range).

I don't have uppers on the range wall (personal preference), so I can't do light strips / under cabinet lights / hidden outlets there, but I do want lights under the upper cabinets on the refrigerator wall.
