Trim around the door and a brighter door color would help. Consider using Fypon or similar trim made from synthetic materials that will not rot or warp like wood. It would reduce the maintenance and look better longer.

I agree with Beverly. Don't try to dress up your home's facade in an attempt to turn it into something it isn't. Adding trim, shutters, window boxes, etc. will actually detract from the simple ranch that you have -- which is actually quite lovely in its own right BECAUSE it's simple. Landscaping will greatly improve your curb appeal. If anything, you might paint the door a happy, welcoming color -- but I wouldn't go about changing the clean, uncluttered look you've got going on now.

Your home doesn't have the proper spacing to accommodate shutters which would look very nice on your home.

Thank you Beverly are you saying to get the windows to match with similar inside window treatments? Yes, your landscaping does add a lot. I had to take out several plants that had turned into massive trees and have really neglected the beds. Time to start all over I think.

Go to a small garden center and have them work up a design of native plants that will enhance your house. Look how well a bright door and great landscaping works with this yellow brick house.

Changing up the landscaping would really help.

Start with your door--rich red,or turquoise.

Add pottery planters in the same color for the front entrance. Those two steps would be a simple start. Like others, I'm on Team Landscaping,professionally designed.
