I would love to live in a space like that. It sounds amazing! I would do a mural that covers the entire wall. As the others have said, a large piece of art would be fine too but I think a mural would be showstopping.

Yes, a large piece of art with color! You could even try an enlarged, framed professional photograph.

Do a mural that covers the entire wall! Hire a professional artist who will do it for you. It will be so worth it! Do not do just 1 large art piece. The whole wall needs to be covered to reflect the whole space, and it needs to also work with the angle of the staircase. Such a fun place to live. ! The other more simplistic route is to do some sort of sculptural wall art, like the Climbing Man sculpture. That would be really fun. Good luck. Post pics when done.

I know this is unsolicited advice, but wth those high walls, and that gorgeous piano you need a drop dead gorgeous chandelier!

Please don't do small artwork...I'd put a unique quilt or a piece of Kuba cloth even.

ilikefriday is right: a mural would be optimal on that wall. I wouldn't do anything textured as it collects dust but that might be a personal preference. :)

Thanks everyone - there are some great ideas here.

I like the idea of big art. Another possibility would be hanging an oriental carpet or kilim (good for deadening echos as well as adding color).

@Filipe Custom Woodwork I love both murals and big art. I have both in my home. The downside is they can be pretty pricey. That one is 24"x24", which isn't even that big, for $5200. Wow. I am a little surprised at that price. But that is a really cool painting. I love it.

When I photoshopped that painting I didn't bother to look at the size. The photoshop was simply meant to give an idea of the possibilities.
