Gel stain on fibreglass door - Too dark!

I need advice please! I picked a gel stain for my fibreglass door and it’s darker than what I wanted - much too dark :( I was envisioning a dark walnut but it’s more of an espresso. Does anyone know if you can lighten the stain that’s already on without damaging the door? Has anyone done this before? I paid too much for the door so replacing it is not an option. Any advice would be appreciated.

Apparently, the builder used Old Masters gel stain. I did not do the stain myself.

What have you tried? Thinner? What kind?

What do the instructions say about removing it or thinning it?

I haven't tried anything yet because I'm nervous I will damage the door. I had given the builder the color name and it was stained by the builder.
