wall color for unusual bathroom

we're closing on this house this week so my photos aren't great since i don't actually live there yet. wondering what color to paint the bathroom walls... the tile is unusual, it's black with light gray accents. the walls are white right now. i want to update the light fixture so it's not so yellow in there which should help a bit but i think the walls will look even more stark than they already do.

i think a deep color would look best since the light colors would tend to get lost. my instinct is a deep blue, not navy but like a dark royal blue. anybody have any color suggestions?

oh, and the house is midcentury.

Pink. Pink, black and gray are classics for mid century.

Taupe, to tie in with the floor and shower. At least I think the shower is not white, but rather bone or bisque or similar.

I love that tile. I think the wall color you have now looks fab. But if you want something else I would say black, hot pink, or emerald green. I think emerald green might look stunning.

I like the wall color you have now, as it looks clean.

I also like it with the clean white walls. I LOVE the tile and think that should be the star.

I like the black and white look. I think green could look fabulous, unless it makes you look green in the mirror.

    This might help,

White or off white and then get crazy with towels and accessories. I love the idea of pink.

I would stay with white. The tile is great.

Awesome tile work. So glad you didn’t rip this out. I think I would try a turquoise.

You could do walls white such as SW Alabaster (warm) and then add some modern art with cobalt blue. Like these

thanks, all! the walls are white-ish. needs a paint job no matter what

White walls look great with that fab black tile. Repaint walls white and add color with your towels.

Green is a terrible color for a bath. I tried twice. Was going for vintage - matching accessories I already had. Turned out Fluorescent green. Lived with it because I hated asking my husband to repaint. Toned it down but green just made us look sick. Also totally hate the pink someone else suggested. But I can see brighter colors like a turquoise, yellow, orange. Small baths are great places to go overboard

was thinking something along these lines. i don't want to go too bright. also someone had asked about the shower - it's white. the lighting is just horrible and very yellow.

i think ultimately i have to change the lighting first and then decide. thanks for everyone's help!

That cobalt blue would be great. Can’t see any current lighting. Can you post pictures of current lighting. There are some great choices out there for better lighting. That will make a big difference.

the lighting is just horrible and very yellow.

Aside from the fixture itself, try an LED bulb in a cooler range.

    Fantastic tile!

I, too, vote for white. Then put some knockout fun colorful artwork on the walls.

2nd choice would be either a mint green or aqua. But really I think white would be the definite way to go.

I really love the tile!! I like white to highlight the contrast.

Ideas for shower curtain to cover the yellowed shower interior.
