Perhaps the mix of frames and mats is part of the issue. The whole bunch should be hung centered 5" above the floor. With thin frames, leave about one hand's width between pieces. Do you have a slim table to put beneath them that won't block the passage? If so, you'll want to lower the grouping so it relates to the table. Is there an outlet so you could add a lamp, stack only two of the pix vertically to one side and lamp on the other. Consider a battery operated lamp if you don't have an outlet.

The wall isn’t large and the pictures look fine. If the wall was larger it would be a different answer.

I have a console table in the foyer which is the space off of this room, so I probably wouldn't put a table on this wall too. Is it suggested to have the same frames?

I like it! Nicely balanced and the warm tones with the black repeat what you have going on with your banister.

I’m with you - it doesn’t look right. I think it’s the mix matched mats and how close they are together.

A gallery wall usually contains more than 4 pictures. Consider expanding it.

To me it would look better if the frames and matting were all black/white.
