If you're talking about a porcelain slab product, there are all kinds of issues getting it installed and keeping it in your kitchen without chipping and cracking. Some people and highly skilled fabricators have managed to make this work, but at some point you may need to prepare for heartbreak if you proceed with it. Here's a few highlights:

• The edges on porcelain slabs cannot be polished, so you're looking at doing a mitered finish for the edges, and this creates a very fragile corner edge that sooner or later is going to chip. The mitered finish looks fabulous if the fabricator can successfully do it, but it will add a lot of cost to the fabrication.
• Yes, porcelain is more durable than quartz as far as heat resistance and staining, but it is less durable than quartz when it comes to chipping and cracking.
• Check the warranty on the Torano Statuario. I've never seen a porcelain supplier warranty its product against chips or cracks. If they do, there is some clause you'll see that allows for chips and cracks to be created by fabrication or normal wear and tear, in which case the warranty is void, which basically means there is no warranty.
• You'll need a very skilled fabricator with the proper tools to fabricate the porcelain without cracking and also to transport it and install it successfully. Most of the smaller or even medium-sized shops are not equipped for this. Some slab yards will sell porcelain slabs with insurance in case of cracking, so this could be a possible semi-solution to give you more room for a less-than-equipped fabricator.
• Despite all these issues, porcelain countertops are becoming popular right now, and sales are trending upward. It remains to be seen how happy consumers will be once those mitered edges start chipping.

Porcelain is more durable against heat, but is thin so would need to have mitered edges. The fabrication of it is quite complicated, but as long as you have a highly skilled fabricator like the person above stated, it is possible and looks gorgeous completed.
