Wall decor suggestions for dinning room

Hi there!

I need some help choosing wall decor to hang up in my dinning room. The walls were painted a very rich and dark burgundy by the previous owners. It photographed redder than it actually is. Any suggestions?

Thank you and yes, in my last home, our walls were blue. Both the walls and furniture are temporary. I just wanted something to hang up in the meantime. I am not sure when we will be redesigning this room, but I'm just tired of seeing these bare walls.

Don't buy for a room you're going to change. You could make this work nicely if you would apply some simple design skills to decorating the table top and other surfaces. A mirror that can easily transition to the future space would be all I'd buy for the walls now.

If it's all temporary..then I would shop your home. A collection of baskets/plates you could make a wall arrangement with..sconces...

Do you have children? If so, they're always coming home with artwork--frame it and place it over your console.

Or go to Art.com and select some prints to frame. They have thousands of choices. Wall decor is personal, just pick what you like.

You don't have to spend oodles of money, and you can re-use anything when you redecorate. If you like it now, you'll probably like it in the future.

Would this piece work for this space? is it big enough would the colors work?

I also have another old painting that might work, what colors should I work with? Thank you for suggesting I shop at home and for the art.com suggestion!

The colors in that one work. Back away and take a pic with the entire piece of furniture in it so we can see if the picture is large enough. You might hang candle sconces either side of it to expand its footprint.

    Come on, really?

Get some plates from the local thrift store to mount on the walls to take up space

Since the decor is already quite traditional I would suggest a large sized landscape painting.

You're right, that painting is way too small! I like the plate idea, I also saw a cool framed silverware diy project online that I might try! Thank you so much for the ideas everyone. This room has been hard to figure out since it's not really my style at all. Hopefully I can update it soon, but in the meantime I think plates and possibly a large landscape painting or mirror will do the trick, I may have something in the basement.

Mirrors would be the best choice as it would go very well with the furniture and chandelier.

Or maybe some wall paintings with golden frames.
