Can't really see anything; there's too much crap in the way. Pictures are hung too high and poorly arranged over sofa. Is that a fireplace behind the wing chair? If so, it shouldn't be hidden.

Ditch the little round rug, put the end table next to a chair so it can be used, and show us what I assume is the TV wall.

And ditch the butterflies on the wall. Hang them over your bed instead.

Give us a measured drawing of the apartment. MCM does require appropriate furniture....show us what you have already.
The vaulted ceiling is of no consequence. Decorate the room down where you live and forget any wall areas above 8’ tall.

There is nothing mid century modern in your ideabooks, and nothing MCM in your apartment except possibly the end table and lamp. MCM is all about sleekness and simplicity.

You'll have to buy all new furniture to go MCM. Do you have the budget for that?

omg,,,that has got to be the worst lighting in any kitchen I've ever seen. The boob light does absolutely nothing.

if he could remove the horrendous florescent and hang this instead, it would give you light and your mcm style

see if the landlord will bring in some sort of hanging light so that you don't chop off your finger while preparing food. at the very least bring in some under cabinet lighting.

Where is the OP I hate this when someone posts a dilemma and then never checks to see comments to answer. You have nothing MCM so please tell us if you are planning new furniture. Waht did you do with all the stuff just out of curiosity. Can you paint the walls that wall colr does not work with the carpet . We need a to scale floor plan too.

It's a nice place. I don't know if you are going for MCM, specifically - or whether you are just looking to bring in some of those design elements with what you have, But here are a couple of possibilities for your current setup.

With your current furniture, wall color and carpeting, I think I'd leave the carpet clear of layered area rug(s).

And bring in a coffee table, in grey, to pick up wall color.

Maybe a little lighter than one above... although charcoal might work.

And I'd bring in a few throw pillows for sofa, in beige, grey, maybe some black, also.

Just some examples.

And if you can bring in a light fixture in LR, I think something like this could work, to incorporate an MCM type element.

And if you want to bring in a splash of more vibrant color, as well as MCM, maybe something like this on wing chair.

It looks like you are leaning toward a gallery wall for over sofa. That would be great; you could add a couple more pieces to what you already have.

The throw pillow selection, as well as the throw in this picture could work in your space with a grey, beige/tan, black scheme, etc. Another gallery wall view:

I never laughed so hard in my life poor girl is probably scared to death by comments. You just need some tweaking can you try sofa facing fireplace and the chair on right side facing I think a tv try word picture above fireplace make a picture wall with flowers on big wall get rid of little things if it doesn't work move things around till you get it

Just a practical suggestion for inside the kitchen....look for a book shelf or two that will fill in the space under the overhang of the peninsula..this will provide lots of storage for all the clutter on the counters...as well as pantry items...put every thing in pretty baskets (easy to find cheap in thrift stores) and maybe some big baskets on cabinet tops for things you only use occasionally....remember also that the tops of the bookcase/s can count as a shelf ,too ...so don’t worry about how tall they are as much as getting them as wide as possible..if you have to store things like the ladder you can use two narrower cases with open space in between
