1980's contemporary exterior - landscape, front porch and roof advice

Front Porch - We would like to replace the front steps which are integrated into the front porch. The off-angle steps are a bit of a hazard for older visitors. We do not want to lose the porch but may have to re-do the whole thing. Not sure of whether to re-build with a deck style as is now, replace with concrete, or anything else. We want to remain true to the style of the house.

Landscaping - We recently removed all of our shrubs and relocated two trees to the side of the house. In the spring we will be putting new plantings in the front of the house, so i'm looking for recommendations as far as what would be in keeping with the style of the house.

Roof - We will need a new roof soon. Would love color recommendations.

Any other general recommendations on curb appeal are welcome! Thanks!

It looks like some regrading may be needed with the new steps. A concrete walkway from the sidewalk, along the driveway, then a right turn and a short run of 3 or 4 steps with a black iron railing would work. It will need a safe transition from the sloping driveway to the new level walkway. Since this redo is going to cost a bundle, you may want to hire a professional landscape designer who can present options within your budget. If your plans are to start next year, in the meantime you can plant a bag of 50 or 100 bright daffodils where you took out the shrubs. Move them when you install the new landscaping.

That is our neighbor's fence and, from any other angle, it does not look like it's part of our property. You can barely see our brown metal fence meeting up to the white one.

@apple_pie_order I never thought of doing a walkway from the sidewalk - that's a great idea. Regarding the "duplicate post" i pushed the button to delete the first one since it's labeled "1908" instead of "1980," but apparently it didn't work. I've never posted on Houzz before, so i'm still learning.

I would make the first step run along the porch. Then step #2 straight out. I might be inclined to move the path to to at a right angle. A handrail will help elderly visitors, too. Put the posts to the left of the steps.

I think gray and blackish roofs go with everything. If you pick a roof to match your siding, that might limit your choices if you want to paint in the future. I'd stick with the current color.

Grasses tend to look modern.
