Those are actually gorgeous drapes. The reason you think the rods are too chunky is that most people use rods that are too narrow.

My suggestion would be to keep them, but add more updated furniture in the room.

The drapes and rods/rings were chosen to go with the wall color. The seller’s room seems a bit blah because there is no pattern anywhere. Think of the drapes as background for your furniture. You could add a patterned rug or a pair of patterned upholstered chairs with the cream color included in the fabric. Your view is the art on that wall. Add art on the other walls.

The view is awesome! We actually painted the walls BM Thunder in Royal Matte and it really makes the white trim pop. I have gray and white patterned rug. Trying to not clutter up the space so kind of dragging my feet on hanging art and mirrors until I get a good feel for room. My husband is trying to keep me from moving everything 10 times! LOL

Sounds like you are doing a nice job! Keeping it simple is the key.

A couple of questions:

-are the drapes operable (able to open and close)?

-if so, do you need to open and close them?

-what is in the center? Is there a drywall separation between the 2 doors?

What I am getting at is I wonder what the space would look like if the 2 center panels were moved to the ends and/or eliminated and used in another space. Obviously you bought the space, in part for the views and you want that accentuated as much as possible.

You and I think alike - there is drywall between the two windows and I thought moving the center panels to the sides would open up the view - seems like it is a pretty expansive view and the center panels truthfully take away from that and chops it up. Plus it hides some pretty trim! I REALLY appreciate all the feedback- -makes me a lot more confident...

I'd give it a whirl......and DH can't complain, cause you aren't putting any holes in the wall.

They are nice as they are - soft but unobtrusive so the focus can be on the view.

When you locate all the center panels to both end, drywall will still separate the view. You may need the installer back, as you have to get past the support brackets, and you WILL see the double support bracket at the drywall section. You are spanning 16 feet. .............: )

Change the chandelier instead.

With THAT view , with that privacy ..., do you even need drapes ? I would eliminate the drapes altogether , poles and all ... ( at minimum take the middle panels out and put some pictures or small painting in a totem pole effect in between ...And Dont forget to eliminate the row of starfish ..then look again . Going slow ..is a great idea !
