Do you bother removing leaves from the ground?

Magnus - England

I know you're supposed to remove all infected leaves from the ground to stop spores from overwintering, but it's a lot of work picking up several hundred individual leaves all over the garden in the cold. My roses are also surrounded by grass which i'm assuming makes a great vector for spores to hide in.

I put so much care into growing my roses, but I don't want to do any more work than I have to, especially since I have a feeling the roses that want to defoliate will defoliate anyway next season.
