You can get window coatings that will do this to apply to the glass, but I've never seen a fabric with these properties. Some of the newer "zebra" blinds might interest you.

Thanks. Window coatings won't work. I want to hang it in a doorway, not over a window. The "Zebra" shades have the same opacity on both sides. Either sheer or opaque. I want it to be one-way only. Anyone else have any ideas?

Zebra shades have 2 opacities, and when opened to varying degrees, you can manipulate the percentage of interchange of sheer and opaque panels of which you seem to already be aware, but I'm just clarifying. However, since this is a door, which you didn't mention in your original post, obviously that won't work.

Use a double rod with a sheer drape on one and an opaque fabric on the other.

Read the top Windowmaster it is posted in different dilemmas . I need to know how that would be possible with one layer of fabric. Think about it how could you have something that you can see through on one side and not the other . Maybe tell us what you are doing and we can maybe help.In my mind this would only work with a double rod and two different fabrics
