Help, I'm not sure what colors to use on dining room/great room space

Hi. I need some advice desperately! We have bought a new home that is has like a great room and dining room layout. Right now, the whole space is white, but I would like to use a grey palette in some way, or an accent wall or just some ideas. I like the openness and brightness of the house, but surely there's something better than all white walls!

I am really bad at coming up with ideas. Can anyone help? I attached pics of the space.

I look forward to some ideas!

Honestly, it looks kind of perfect to me!! Very pretty!

I like the white walls. Maybe paint the wall unit so there's some contrast?

I completely agree about adding some live plants and other textures! There is nothing wrong with the white walls, but currently it feels like the dining room and living space are completely different palettes. What are the rug sizes? Could you switch them to bring some depth to the LR and some of the blue/grey tones into the DR?

Then add a basket on the floor, some decor items on the table (hardcover books with bright colors, large driftwood or seashells). I would consider a small console under the b/w pictures and then align them horizontally. Would you consider drapes? I would choose a textured linen type fabric.

I love everyone’s suggestions! So how would I select a wall color based on this. Sorry I am not sure how to tie those ideas to a color on the walls....:/

Are these pictures of your furniture in the home or the previous owners?

The furniture is not mine except for the entertainment center which I am buying. I will upload my dining table. For living room, My sofa is a Scan Design black leather sectional with chrome legs and white coffee table.

People are commenting based on what they see on the rooms and how to add to it and complete the space. We need to see your items in the rooms to offer you help.

Ok that makes sense. I was hoping to paint before moving in but that might not be possible given what you are saying. I’ll wait til then. Thank you!

And once you get your items in the space, you will see what the colors really look like with your lighting. Trying to find a gray that works is the subject of many., many posts on Houzz. I would recommend an in-home color consultation. With all that light, you should be able to do some fun accent walls (maybe a cool wallpaper behind the entertainment center). The key to making in homey are the plants, textures, and larger-scale knick-knacks. The thing to keep in mind is the dark wood floor you will have. You will want to choose rugs that bring the light down onto your floor.
