No I am just guessing. It might be for a specific use. It could be a device to pull a hot object from hot water? Hard to be sure.

A device to remove an olive from a jar?

Nice guess but I think the hole is too big for olives. I thought maybe a pickle remover because the hole is about the size of a large whole pickle the the circle part is kind of angled down where you could reach into the jar.

I suppose if I had one in my home and wasn’t sure what it’s for, I will probably use it to take a boiled egg out of the pan and open a jar with it lol
