Laundry and mud room flooring

January 4, 2020

Hi everyone, we‘re about to start an addition project and have two flooring dilemmas.

One part of the project will add on a living room, off of which will be a laundry room and bathroom. We’ll be tiling the bathroom, which will be directly adjacent to the mud room. The living room will be finish in place hardwood to match the rest of the house, and we’re considering continuing that into the mud room for continuity and to avoid having 3 flooring materials in close proximity. Is this a terrible idea? I’m pretty married to a marble basket weave for the bathroom so don’t want to put that in the mud room.

We basically have the same dilemma on the second floor with the laundry room, where an existing room (With hardwood) will be turned into the laundry room and I don’t want to replace if possible.
