Experience with Chesapeake Flooring's Heartland vinyl plank?

Does anyone have experience with Chesapeake Flooring's Heartland line of luxury vinyl plank flooring? I'm considering using it for my finished basement. I love the way that the sample looks, and the specs seem good, but I'm having a hard time finding reviews and customer photos online.

It seems nearly impossible to find reviews on Chesapeake Flooring. We want to convert from hardwood to vinyl plank flooring in our beach home. With sand, two dogs and a pebble driveway that appears in the house, vinyl seems the best way to go. Looked at popular brands (Cortec, Armstrong, etc) but found a favored color, texture and plank width in Chesapeake Flooring Coastal (color, Coquina). Has anyone had any experience with this brand? I did find one post from 2013 reporting peeling floor and poor customer service. There must be something favorable to report in the last seven years. Anyone?

    Chesapeake Floor UPDATE:

After much thought, we decided to invest in this flooring throughout our home. We completed the renovation in early September 2020, so we’ve lived on it about four months now and couldn’t be happier with our choice.

The color, texture and plank width are just perfect for the application. We have no fears of scratches as people and dogs come in from the pebble driveway in snow and rain or sandy wet off the beach. Very easy clean up. I was looking for a slight beveled edge detail to the plank -but not so deeply beveled that it became a “crumb catcher”. This flooring was exactly what I was looking to install.

Initially we were only going to do the main level, but as we got into the renovation, we decided to pull out all the upstairs hardwoods and did the entire house. (Bathrooms are tile though.) We have an open loft area from the second floor looking over the family room and felt it would have better continuity to have matching flooring throughout. We did not do the stairs in vinyl though. Since we went with a gray and white Craftsman look and trimmed out with black exterior windows (with white interior) and black interior hardware on all windows and doors, I opted to paint my stair treads black with white risers. I installed a neutral color stair runner (which compliments the Coquina flooring color and our wall paint) with added black binding. It really ties it all together very nicely.

So, four months in, my only negative is that when I’m walking barefoot on this floor, I am reminded it’s not wood but vinyl. A very small price to pay when I so appreciate the durability and looks of this floor. Several other contractors and neighbors have been in this home throughout the renovation and many have commented on our beautiful new “wood” floors. I’ve had to write the name down for several people who are now interested in making the switch to vinyl.

I’ve attached a few post reno pictures but before furniture was moved back in.

Thank you! I'm looking at this floor too. Is yours 12ml or 20ml wear layer? The one I'm looking at is 12.

@Robert Wynne appreciate your input, any worry for sunlight UV issues ? do the floors read neutral / warm / cool ? thx so much. did you use extra underlayment ?

I’d say the color reads neutral to warm. We started off with using our previous furniture, which was in beige tones and it brought out the golden tones in the floor. Just received our new sectional, which is in pale blues and grays. Both tones look good with his flooring. And the rug helps tie it together. No extra underlayment was used, however, the house was totally gutted so all floor boards were replaced. Not a squeak in the place. One thing I am not happy with is where it abuts our flush-to-the-floor fireplace hearth. The raw edge cuts bother me -but the solution of framing it out in matching trim bothered me more. I felt it would draw attention to a more vinyl look.

@Robert Wynne - Where did you find the coquina? local store or online?

and did you happen to look at the sand dollar color as well... wasn't sure how you thought it compared in color?

Thank you for the pics and your candor. We're considering Chesapeake or Moda Living for the same reasons - dogs, sunlight, and, keeping our shoes on in the house. (A lot of in and out with the pups). You said a key thing that I'm worried about - the feel in bare feet. I'm wondering about the sound as well. We have lvp in our basement and primary bath.

We just completed phase II of our reno which added on a 1st floor primary suite, bathroom, walk through closet and laundry. Also added an entire suite of two bedrooms and bathroom over the garage. We continued the Chesapeake flooring into the ”rear foyer” which serves as a transition space between the family room, outdoor space and the new primary suite. We have a seamless flooring transition there. I opted for wall to wall carpeting in the bedroom and closet with tile in the bath and laundry. I wanted a neutral porceline in the bath and a fun color and pattern in the laundry.

We did the entire upstairs addition (except the bathroom) in the same Chesapeake vinyl flooring with area carpets and it’s perfect!

Absolutely love the floors with your selected wall paint colors. Do you know what brand/color paint you used for the home walls and your bedroom?? I’m in the process of picking out paint for our new remodel and have selected SW City Loft but would love to paint the master the same blue you used. It’s gorgeous. Also the trim color?

Thanks for sharing the info and the pics @Robert Wynne! Very helpful! Still unable to find reviews out there on Chesapeake LVP. I just brought home a few samples after reading your post and seeing your pictures.

Did you diy? If so, was it easy to install?
